My Journey to Becoming a Story and Field Producer

Before I even knew what story and field producing was, I was always the kid with a wild imagination and a knack for storytelling. Back then, my tales were confined to the pages of my neatly kept journal or shared with buddies around a cozy campfire. Little did I know, this intrinsic passion for spinning yarns would be the stepping stone towards my future career as a story and field producer.

The first taste of professional media production came when I enrolled in film school. There, I dove head-first into learning about camera angles, scriptwriting, editing — you name it! It wasn’t just theory; we’d often get our hands dirty on real film sets. That’s where I realized that while directing is fun, my true calling lay in piecing different elements together behind the scenes to create compelling narratives.

After graduation, like most fresh graduates brimming with ambition but not quite sure where to start, I found myself at crossroads. That’s when fate intervened and landed me an internship at MTV. You wouldn’t believe it if I told you – my first assignment? Working on the set of ‘Jersey Shore’. Talk about baptism by fire!

Working on ‘Jersey Shore’ was nothing short of exhilarating—sometimes chaotic—but ultimately rewarding experience. One day could mean tracking down bizarre props for an upcoming episode; another day might involve coordinating interviews between cast members amidst their busy schedules (and egos). Yet each challenge brought new learnings that honed my problem-solving skills and ability to adapt quickly—traits vital in any field producer.

Fast forward a few years later—I can proudly say that those early days shaped me into who I am now: an experienced story and field producer who has traveled far from his humble beginnings scribbling stories in journals. It’s been quite the journey indeed—a winding road filled with unexpected turns—but one thing remains constant: my love for storytelling. And that, I believe, is what makes me good at what I do today.
