Even being a seasoned PvP player with excellent skills is only a part of the success formula for PvP in World of Warcraft. A lot of weight goes into picking the right class and spec with the most impact in the current meta. Sadly, some specs can only go so far, while few specs have a considerable edge over all others, allowing them to dominate the PvP. If you aim to be most competitive in the remainder of season 2, you should pay attention to these classes, as they rank the best and excel in all critical aspects of PvP combat.

Arms Warrior

It is one of the most versatile specs, with remarkable mobility options and sustained heavy-hitting damage. It’s also impossible to overrate the importance of the Mortal Strike as the strongest counter to healing classes, along with a whole armory of the most effective PvP utilities, such as Intervene, Spell Reflect, or Duel. Arms is one of the best choices for the current meta of 10.1.7.

Ret Paladin

The class has powerful supporting capabilities and some of the nastiest utilities the PvP has ever seen, including Lay on Hands, Sacrifice, the Bubble, and a wall of defenses. All that, paired with frequent and powerful bursts of damage, makes the Retribution one of the best choices for high-end PvP, especially when teamed up with the Arms Warrior. Paladins are always the go-to option for pushing the rating, whether with your friends, LFG buddies, or even much more experienced players doing WoW PvP boost services.

SPriest

Shadow is a versatile range spec with control and support capabilities and great DPS. Utility options include two Dispells and shields that help the priests with their lack of defensives and the Leap of Faith to snatch the teammates out of the danger zone. If the SP is left unchecked, it can send out a ton of targeted damage and substantial spread pressure on the enemy team through powerful DoTs.

WW Monk

Windwalkers have compelling single-target burst windows with the Rising Sun and Fists, making them a significant threat in the arena, especially with some of the best mobility tools in the game and good self-healing. That makes them one of the best melee specs in competitive PvP, capable of deleting priority targets.

Unholy DK

This Death Knight spec fits quite well in the current meta, applying lots of constant pressure through pets, diseases, wounds, and potent burst windows with powerful cooldowns. UDK is incredibly powerful against caster comps, with many utilities such as Grip, Mind Freeze, Pet CC, and Stun.

Powerful magic damage mitigation cooldowns like AMS and AMZ and the Death Strike healing are the extra anti-caster pros of the spec. While it’s not the easiest one to master due to the amount of abilities, it is well worth taking the time to practice.

Destro Warlock

Destruction Warlocks, with their signature Chaos Bolt ability, deal a fearsome amount of burst DPS and have potent cooldowns that can secure a quick kill of the priority targets. While there is a particular dependency on the positioning and being able to cast freely, a few consecutive casts from Destro can change the game’s flow. Even against compositions with a lot of CC, it is possible to inflict a lot of damage with instant spells and utilize nasty curses.

MM Hunter

Left unchecked, Marksmanship deals a crazy amount of burst DPS. Great mobility tools allow them to kite opponents well unless a well-timed stun or disarm is at play. MM specialization depends on the team play to get the openings and correctly set up their cooldowns and CC options. It pairs very well with more melee-oriented teams with Paladins, DKs, and Warriors.

Balance Druid

The current iteration of the Balance spec shifted from sustained pressure to more of a single target burst on a rather long CD, along with good cleave through powerful dots and great control utilities, including Roots, Mass Entangle, and Hibernation. AoE damage remains strong, and its true potential can be revealed on BGs.

Sub Rogue

Subtlety Rogues are well associated with their specialty in blocking targets in the most powerful chain of CC, consisting of more than four abilities and consequential burst damage when opening from stealth. Their entire kit is made to control the battlefield and deliver defining deadly strikes to remove targets from the equation while an enemy is helpless. Currently, the Sub is the best spec for the competitive area of play, with all the damage, utility, and survivability it brings to the table.

Aug Evoker

The higher you go in ranked PvP, the more impact the Augmentation has on the game. The spec brings impressive burst damage, survivability, control abilities, and powerful utility tools for the team. While the spec was only recently introduced, it has already gained much popularity in the arena.

Aug can greatly empower teammates and allow easy kills or rescue friendlies from the brink of death with strong healing CDs, all while nearly unkillable.

Enh Shaman

Yet another solid melee choice – Enhancement provides a lot of utility for the team through totems and other cooldowns, along with powerful burst DPS windows on a short cooldown. Enh can be considered as DPS support with strong healing capabilities and lots of CC.
