As the final piece for their CS: GO roster, the British esports organization, Fnatic, signs former Dignitas player Ludvig’ HEAP’ Alonso on a trial basis. HEAP is expected to make his first appearance on Tuesday during the REPUBLEAGUE Season 3 qualifiers, where the team faces off against United Kingdom’s esports team, Into the Breach.
The 22-year-old Swede rifler has been practicing with Fnatic since May but due to circumstances, he was not able to debut during the Pinnacle Cup Championship this year. Patrik’ f0rest’ Lindberg, a legendary veteran in the CSGO esports scene, took the spot as a last-minute substitute for HEAP.
As HEAP joins Fnatic, many are ecstatic over this decision but question why the player is on trial. Many fans consider HEAP as a ‘really good option for Fnatic’ since he was one of the shining lights in Dignitas. After not qualifying for the PGL Antwerp Major, Fnatic benched in-game leader Alex McMeekin and Valentin’ poison Vasilev, and placed Peppe’ Peppzor’ Borak back in the academy squad. To compensate, in-game leadership duties were handed to William’ mezii’ Merriman while both Fredrik’ roeJ’ Jørgensen and Nico’ nicoodoz’ Tamjidi were brought back in. HEAP Exits From Dignitas
Re-entering the European CS: GO scene at the start of 2020, Dignitas signed the majority of the Ninjas in Pyjamas team members. Despite this effort, the organization has not won any major awards and was unable to make an impact at any of the events they have participated in. In an effort to resolve this, last month, Dignitas announced that it will be moving its entire CS: GO roster to the inactive list to evaluate and explore ‘various iterations of a revised roster.’ This made all of its players available for transfer to give them a fair opportunity to find a better fit for themselves. Many questions this move by Dignitas, knowing that the organization has recently just re-entered the scene. The question on the competitive future of renowned legendary veterans’ f0rest and Friberg’s performances over the last two years have been called lackluster. During the past weeks, Dignitas has been evaluating the fate of their CS: GO pursuance. They’re hoping to rebuild a new team that will be able to compete and win trophies. Despite the effort they are putting into making a new team, if the opportunity never arises, then the organization may consider staying out of the lanes of CS: GO yet again.
Fnatic Charges Forward Into The Competition
With HEAP’s debut that took place back on June 21, 2022, Fnatic is hoping that the roster overhaul will be able to put them back on the top. Having disappointing results from last year and winning any CS: GO Majors, it seems that this is another chance for them to rise up. After showing promise in the Pinnacle Cup Championship, defeating Heroic and BIG fans are excited to see how they will perform with new members such as HEAP and mezii.
